AIMPLAS surpasses €1 billion in social impact for the first time, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable innovation

Valencia (24-09-2026).- AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, has presented its 2025 Sustainability Report, a year in which it strengthened its position as a driver of innovation and sustainability in the Spanish industry. The technology centre closed the year with revenues of €26.7 million, more than 3,500 client companies, 900 member companies and a record €1.029 million in social value generated, as measured by its Social Return on Investment (SROI) calculation.

These results consolidate AIMPLAS's sustained growth trajectory based on research, technology transfer and the development of innovative solutions for industry. Of the total impact generated, €601 million was attributable to contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while €420 million stemmed from the promotion of the circular economy.

Another milestone in 2025 was the development of AIMPLAS's first double materiality assessment, carried out with the participation of all its stakeholder groups. Aligned with the new European sustainability reporting standards, the assessment identified ethics, good governance and risk management, impact-driven innovation, market positioning, customer experience and economic sustainability, digitalization and cybersecurity, and environmental sustainability as strategic priorities.

From social impact to climate neutrality 

Environmental sustainability was another key area of action during the year. AIMPLAS renewed its carbon footprint registration with the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and once again received the CALCULO-REDUZCO-COMPENSO seal, having reduced its emissions by 37% compared with the average of the previous three years and offset 100% of its carbon footprint.

As part of this strategy, the technology centre promoted the creation of its first corporate forest, the AIMPLAS Forest, in Villargordo del Cabriel. Nearly one hundred employees and family members took part in the planting of 500 native tree species across 1.5 hectares. The initiative is expected to absorb approximately 30 tonnes of CO₂ while contributing to the restoration of local biodiversity.

The organization also reinforced its environmental management efforts through the use of 100% renewable electricity backed by guarantees of origin, improved energy efficiency despite increased activity, the recovery of all non-hazardous waste generated, and a reduction in hazardous waste.

The commitment to sustainability also extended to social impact. During 2025, AIMPLAS continued supporting a wide range of social initiatives, including donations to organizations involved in recovery efforts following the DANA, support for its chairs at the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Universitat de València, science outreach activities, sponsorship of industry initiatives, and partnerships with social and environmental organizations.

AIMPLAS's talent strategy was validated for the third consecutive year with the renewal of its Great Place to Work® certification, reinforcing its reputation as a workplace built on trust, respect and collaboration.

With these results, AIMPLAS further consolidates its position as a benchmark for sustainable innovation in the plastics sector and continues to advance its Vision 2030 roadmap, focused on creating positive impact for businesses, people, the environment and society.
